This short report brings to light some interesting commits to scylla-cluster-tests.git master from the last week. Commits in the c9564c1a…3b60b9ce range are covered.
There were 49 non-merge commits from 10 authors in that period. Some notable commits:
A full-text search (BM25) performance test landed as fts_test.FtsSearchTest.test_fts_search, which loads documents with latte and records how long the fulltext_index build takes. It runs on a workload-agnostic search performance flow driven by the YAML plan named in search_test_config, with every measurement appended to search_results.jsonl.
xcloud gained a cluster scaling under load test that checks that a cluster auto-scales on storage use while a cassandra-stress mixed load runs. It ships with an AWS staging pipeline.
An arm64 GCE run now takes its arch from gce_instance_type_db and finds its image in the scylla-arm64 family. A new artifacts-gce-image-arm job runs the artifacts test on c4a-highmem-4-lssd.
The artifacts test now fails when the installed I/O properties deviate from a fresh scylla_io_setup measurement in either direction. The limit is 25% on AWS, 20% on GCE, 30% on OCI and 35% on Azure.
Minicloud can now run cluster_backend: azure tests the same way as AWS and GCE, with an Azure overlay and a local entry point.
The minicloud emulator reached v0.8.0, which runs natively on macOS and serves Azure IMDS scheduled events. SCT starts it with --intercept-s3, so Manager backs up to the minicloud local S3 store.
The Manager backup snapshot test now reports the keyspace size on disk and the backup duration, so Manager and single copy backups can be compared.
SCT dropped fourteen config options that no code read, among them spot_max_price, backup_bucket_region, monitor_swap_size and stress_cmd_read_cl_one.
A new perf-version-comparison skill builds a standalone HTML page that compares the results of one test across two or more ScyllaDB versions from Argus runs.
The Jenkins builder lifecycle got a mini-plan for run owner tags, keep tags and build timeouts, split into four PRs.
See you in the next issue of last week in scylla-cluster-tests.git master!
