# Last week in scylladb.git master (issue #224; 2024-03-31)

This short report brings to light some interesting commits to [scylladb.git master](https://github.com/scylladb/scylladb/) from the last week. Commits in the 6bdb456fad…885cb2af07 range are covered.

There were 90 non-merge commits from 20 authors in that period. Some notable commits:

  

In consistent topology mode, it is now possible to [change the snitch](https://github.com/scylladb/scylladb/commit/69bf96252284173ec6f9cdf7087539a88b83c319).

Materialized views track the amount of work in progress in order to limit it. Due to a bug, if the base replica had to update both a local view replica and a remote view replica, then only the work to update the local view replica was tracked. This could lead to running out of memory, and is now [fixed](https://github.com/scylladb/scylladb/commit/9789a3dc7c0fde0d306d53d074a83a02a6bed880).

In consistent topology more, we now only [allow decommission](https://github.com/scylladb/scylladb/commit/13fecd4e3695b944e293acf0c87ce902b9d63fd4) if the node is in NORMAL state.

It turned out that some nodetool commands are still not implemented by native nodetool; it now supports [getsstables, sstableinfo](https://github.com/scylladb/scylladb/commit/22b8065a89c0ff26185a257efb2a876b8f929f07) and [checkAndRepairCdcStreams](https://github.com/scylladb/scylladb/commit/81bbfae77a24ff58a6795582d179ed4f0a8c1c5a).

The CREATE KEYSPACE statement will now [warn about unsupported features](https://github.com/scylladb/scylladb/commit/042a4b762763b36fdcbef89e6ef33382940ea1c5) if tablets are used, allowing the user to disable tablets if they require those features.

In consistent topology mode, we now support the [initial\_token](https://github.com/scylladb/scylladb/commit/d274f63d89347bf89c48b875456b4e3f69226d92) configuration parameter.

A bug while copying data from cache during reverse queries was [fixed](https://github.com/scylladb/scylladb/commit/295b27a07b9aa306a91b43887fcbabb76ec356c6).

The [`unchecked_tombstone_compaction`](https://github.com/scylladb/scylladb/commit/fdd5367974aab4c1e9a3056dde222a9cd213f074) compaction option has been implemented. Setting this option will ignore tombstone\_threshold.

Alternator, ScyllaDB’s implementation of the DynamoDB API, is now more careful to [prevent other queries from stalling](https://github.com/scylladb/scylladb/commit/96a354473909078ff3de0feba065e64a451399b7) when processing large queries.

A bug which delayed upgrade to consistent topology until node restart was [fixed](https://github.com/scylladb/scylladb/commit/c3989d8e03c1b9e988d3940c8928f980aa2fe625).

The tablet allocator now supports replication factor changes, [adding or removing tablets](https://github.com/scylladb/scylladb/commit/1adf16ce73f135566cd395ace31bb16d41276b12) as needed. This is not yet wired to CQL.

The native nodetool repair command will now [abort](https://github.com/scylladb/scylladb/commit/566223c34a161b08c666f3658b41fafff0f69271) on the first failed repair.
